When people say “I feel it in my gut”, this is actually true, your gut can “tell you things”.There are signals that are sent from our heart to our brain when we feel empathy or compassion towards someone that is also neurological.

Part of how we developed this level of discernment to understand perception, instinct and intuition is how we look at our worldview and our spiritual world view. Do we see the world as sinful, evil and needing to be judged or do you see it as John said (John 3:16-17) - for God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever would believe in Him would not perish but have eternal life. For God did not come to condemn the world of sin, but to set it right again.

Jesus died to restore and rebuild what God’s original plan and dream was. When you understand this, you will have more grace, compassion, empathy, and love for what God is doing even in people who are agnostic or atheists. You can feel that God is already trying to win them and that they are part of His heart. A lot of times when we have a limited theology and limited world view, we can treat people not only like they are going to hell, but we treat them like they are already in hell right now. Therefore they are separate from us - it’s us and them. Religion causes us to be limited in our ability to understand what God is telling us. Theology is important in understanding that God loves the world and He’s come to set it right again - this is essential to discern correctly.

Discernment itself is never the final revelation, it helps to lead us into conversations with God. God cares about humanity. This is essential to learn when we are learning how to discern that God has good news and that He has goodness in His heart towards humanity and wants to do something about the evil on the earth. We need to see the world around us with God’s eyes of love. There is no one that is unworthy, no matter how evil they are or the bad choices they have made, we shouldn't judge them by those choices as unworthy of the cross and the price Jesus paid. Because, in one second…..God can change anything.

1 Corinthians 12:7 NIV - “To One there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit.”

God wants to give you supernatural wisdom to understand the positional authority of who Jesus is and what He has available for you. James 1:5 When God brings spiritual wisdom, it brings alternatives and options that aren’t on your current table.

What happens when you have God's gift of wisdom is that you don’t see the darkness as much as you can see the effect of what the light will do. This isn’t denial of the darkness, this is choosing to focus on the goodness of what God can do. Wisdom enables you to be that resource to the world around you.
